My patience. Success takes time. I focus on evaluating opportunities with a long-term outlook, allowing them time to establish firm foundations. Patience is a crucial element of this approach.

What are the key factors in the process of building a company?

Three factors stand out to me. First, clarity of vision. A well-defined purpose helps maintain focus and inform vital decisions. Second, prioritizing the company’s needs over personal ambitions. The best interests of the company might not always align with personal desires; however it is essential to put the business goals first. Third, determination and perseverance. The path will be challenging, and founders need the resilience to navigate obstacles.

What is the most crucial question every founder should ask a potential investor?

Founders should understand how an investor handles adverse situations. They should verify the investor’s response by speaking with other founders who have worked with them. At Trousdale Ventures, we recognize that setbacks are a natural part of building a business and we want founders to be prepared for them. A prime example is the revival of the Meyers Manx dune buggy brand. As the acting Chairman, I’ve been deeply involved in steering the brand towards a sustainable future. This includes leveraging my operational expertise and working closely with the team to innovate while preserving the brand’s iconic heritage. Another instance is my role at Coreshell, an advanced battery company where I hold a board position. I contribute to strategic decisions that enhance the company’s growth and technological advancements.
