Starfish Space is preparing to make history.
This summer, their Otter satellite servicer will launch on a landmark mission to locate, approach, and dock with an unprepared satellite in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). If successful, it will be the first-ever commercial satellite docking in LEO, and a pivotal step towards scalable satellite servicing.
Otter Pup 2 is scheduled to launch as part of SpaceX‘s Transporter-14 rideshare mission in mid-June. Once in LEO, it will attempt to rendezvous and dock with a D-Orbit ION spacecraft deployed on the same mission. Starfish’s proprietary electrostatic capture system makes this possible, enabling docking with unprepared satellites without the need for custom ports or modifications.
The demonstration could redefine the future of satellite servicing, life extension, and orbital cleanup—essential components for a sustainable space economy. We’re proud to support Starfish as they shape the future of space operations.
