REGENT has been nominated for an Earthshot Prize after successfully testing its full-scale electric seaglider for the first timeβa key step forward in developing zero-emissions coastal travel.
The all-electric vehicle uses hydrofoils to rise out of the water during takeoff, then cruises a few feet above the surface at speeds reaching 180 mph. Built for regional routes, it can travel up to 180 miles per chargeβoffering the range and pace of a small aircraft with the lower impact of battery-powered propulsion.
REGENT is working toward a 2028 launch of its electric seaglider, with the goal of making coastal travel faster, cleaner, and more efficient.
