Ecovative has opened access to its European patent for MycoComposite, a mycelium-based material made from mushroom roots and agricultural waste. The material is already in use in product packaging and construction.
By making the patent available to others, Ecovative is inviting partners, innovators, and manufacturers to adapt and expand on the technology—speeding up the development of next-gen, compostable alternatives.
It’s a meaningful step toward their mission of replacing plastic with renewable materials at scale.
