New York biotech company, Helaina, has secured $45 million in Series B funding to bring Effera, its animal-free alternative to human lactoferrin, to the market.
Lactoferrin is key to increasing iron absorption, boosting immunity, and promoting gut health. Helaina plans to make these benefits available to consumers through everyday food and wellness products—without the use of animal-based ingredients.
This latest funding round will allow Helaina to expand production and begin incorporating Effera into products like supplements, beverages, and snacks.
